Wine from Slovenian winery was consumed in Split, Croatia. Hotel personnel who furnished cork screw made us aware that Croatia has good wine too. We agree!!

Roses are planted at row ends of vineyard, because they suffer the from the same diseases as the grapes, but only show it sooner.


Fresh truffles. Found this morning. We had a truffle and wine tasting in Motovun, Croatia.


Motovun in the background. Our hotel was in an old castle at the top of the hill. Long walk up to the hotel from bus stop. Streets too narrow for the bus.

Overnight train from Krakow, Poland to Budapest, Hungary. We each had our own sleeper unit. No one in top bunk!!

"Hospital in the Rock" Secret Military Hospital and Nuclear Bunker. Perfectly preserved WW II era medical supplies & equipment, most still in working order.
